F-35 Engine Fire May Be One-Time Incident, U.S.Says

The engine fire that led the Pentagon to ground its fleet of F-35 fighters may have been caused by an isolated flaw.
The Pentagon said July 3 that the combined fleet of 97 Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps jets would be grounded pending a comprehensive safety review after a fire on an Air Force version of the aircraft caused its takeoff to be aborted.
The grounding has kept three of the Marine Corps’ F-35s from flying to the U.K. to participate in the Farnborough Air Show, which would have been an opportunity to promote international sales.
