Corea del Sur paraliza su flota de F-5/South Korea grounds its Tigers




La agencia de noticias AFP informa que Corea del Sur ha paralizado su flota de Northrop F-5E/F Tiger II tras la pérdida de dos aviones en accidente el pasado día 2 de marzo.
Tres pilotos fallecieron en dos aviones, los cuales chocaron contra una montaña en la zona este del país. La flota de unos 170 F-5E/F permanecerá paralizada hasta el esclarecimiento de las causas del accidente. Corea del Sur opera además algunos F-5A/B ‘Freedom Fighter’ en misiones de reconocimiento.

News agency AFP reports that the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) has grounded its fleet of Northrop F-5E/F Tiger IIs following the loss of two aircraft on March 2.
Three pilots were killed when the two aircraft crashed into a mountain near the east coast. A spokesman for the RoKAF said that the fleet of approximately 170 F-5E/Fs would remain grounded until the cause of the crash was determined.
As well as the F-5Es, the RoKAF operates a handful of older F-5A/B ‘Freedom Fighters’ in the reconnaissance role.
