Así lo ha declarado el ministro de Defensa Indio. El contrato para adquirir 20 cazas LCA Tejas en configuración de capacidad operativa inicial fue firmado en Marzo de 2006 con HAL. Los retrasos en la producción se deben a mejoras en el diseño llevadas a cabo durante la fase de desarrollo.

India's Defense Minister AK Antony replied in a written statement to another lawmaker that the indigenous LCA fighter will be inducted into the IAF by March 2011. A contract for the procurement of 20 Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) in Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) configuration was signed with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on March 31, 2006. Delay in LCA production is primarily due to refinements carried out in the development phase.
