La OTAN cerca de adoptar escudo antimisiles promovido por Estados Unidos/ NATO near adoption of U.S. missile shield

Altos oficiales de Estados Unidos y la OTAN esperan que finalmente los países miembros se unan al escudo anti misiles para defensa de Europa promovido por el presidente Obama, tras votación en la próxima cumbre de la OTAN a celebrar en Lisboa en Noviembre.
Mediante esta decisión, los sistemas antiaéreos de estos países entrarían a formar parte de un sistema mas amplio.
Está por decidirse la localización de un potente radar para el sistema.

U.S. and NATO officials said Thursday that they expect the military alliance to formally participate in the Obama administration's plan for a missile defense shield over Europe, scheduled to be activated next year.
NATO is scheduled to vote at a summit in Lisbon next month on whether to make missile defense a formal part of its mission. If it does, European alliance members would plug their individual defense systems into a broader missile shield.
It is under discussion if Turkey will allow a high-powered X-band radar on its territory. The location of the radar is the last unresolved piece in the first phase of the Pentagon's missile defense shield for Europe.
