The Dutch Air Force has participated in military operations in Afghanistan since 2002. Approximately 100 Royal Netherlands Air Force soldiers based in Masar-e-Sharif ensure the Falcons are ready for reconnaissance and close air support missions. The Netherlands is one of the 49 contributing nations to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
