Dutch Jets Make First Strikes on Islamic State in Iraq

Dutch warplanes carried out their first strikes against Islamic State forces in Iraq today, the Ministry of Defense said.
F-16 fighters dropped three bombs on armored vehicles that were firing at Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in the northern part of the country. Two planes attacked and destroyed the vehicles.
The Netherlands has sent six F-16s, two reserve aircraft and as many as 250 support staff and pilots to join U.S.-led air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Iraq. The Dutch government announced last month that it’s to send as many as 130 military personnel to train Iraqi and Kurdish forces.
