Iraqi Army shows off new Pantsyr Russian air defence systems

Iraq revealed on 30 September that it has taken delivery of Pantsyr-S1 mobile short-range air defence systems and Igla-1 (SA-24) man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) from Russia.
The Russian media has previously reported that Iraq would receive 42 systems.
With its two twin 30 mm guns, 12 ready-to-fire missiles, integrated target acquisition and tracking radars, and optical tracking system, the Pantsyr-S1 represents a significant improvement on the US Avenger short-range air defence systems currently used by the Iraqi Army.
