La US Navy ha completado con éxito el primer lanzamiento de un caza con el nuevo sistema EMALS, un sistema electromagnético de lanzamiento, y que se pretende sustituya a las catapultas de vapor en los portaaviones. Este es el sistema elegido para los nuevos portaaviones británicos clase Queen Elizabeth.

The US Navy has successfully completed the first launch of a fighter jet using the new Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) technology.
EMALS is intended to replace steam catapults on aircraft carriers and is the preferred system for the UK’s new Queen Elizabeth class.
