Francia en conversaciones con Rusia para la venta de cuatro buques clase Mistral. Francia y Rusia están negociando un contrato por cuatro buques BPC Mistral, según el presidene francés Nicolas Sarkozy. El primero de los 4 buques se construiría en los astilleros de St Nazaire, en Francia. El valor de la compra sería de unos 400-500 millones de euros. Francia ha aprobado la operación, y está pendiente de la decisión de Rusia. No está previsto firmar el contrato durante la visita del presidente ruso Medvedev a Francia. La posibilidad de venta de armas de Francia a Rusia ha aumentado la preocupación en los países vecinos y en Estados Unidos.
El presidente ruso Dimitry Medvedev se encuentra de visita en Francia del 1 al 3 de marzo para cerrar acuerdos bilaterales de alto nivel. El comercio entre ambos países se ha quintuplicado en el peridos 2003-2008. A pesar de la crisis económica, la inversión francesa en Rusia sumo 10,4 billones de dólares en 2009.
Los dos países cooperan en la exploración espacial y ha sido firmado un contrato para el lanzamiento de 10 nave Soyuz-ST rusas desde la base de Kourou en la Guayana Francesa.

France in Talks With Russia on Four Warships. France and Russia have launched "exclusive negotiations for four BPC Mistral" said, French President Nicolas Sarkozy after talks with his Russian counterpart.
The first of the four ships would be built at a French naval shipyard in St Nazaire on the mouth of Loire. It´s worth 400-500 million euros. The French government has approved the sale but Russia has not yet made a final decision. A source in the Russian Defense Ministry earlier said the deal is not expected to be signed during Medvedev's visit to France.The prospect of French arms sales to Russia has raised concern among some of Russia's neighbors and the United States.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is visiting France on March 1-3in order to discuss a range of international and bilateral issues with French top officials.
The agenda of the talks includes Russian-French economic, military and humanitarian cooperation and Russia's accession to the WTO. Russian-French trade turnover has risen by more than five times in 2003-2008. Despite the world economic crisis, French investments in the Russian economy accounted for $10.4 billion in 2009.
The two countries also cooperate in space exploration. A contract to launch 10 Russian Soyuz-ST carrier rockets from the Kourou space center in French Guiana was signed by Russia's space agency and French satellite launch firm Arianespace in 2008. The first launch is likely to take place this year.
