Philippine Navy Signs Contract for Two Additional AW109 Power Helicopters

AgustaWestland announces the signing of a contract with the Philippine Navy for two additional AW109 Power maritime helicopters. The helicopters will be used for a wide range of naval missions including economic zone protection, surface surveillance, SAR and maritime security. This latest contract brings to five the total number of AW109 Powers ordered by the Philippine Navy which is already operating the first batch of three aircraft. The order further expands the success achieved by this model in the Philippines for military applications following the contract for eight units signed by the Philippine Air Force in 2013. The two additional helicopters will be delivered in the second half of this year and will operate from both shore and ship bases.

SAAF to sell planes?

Belgian A109s Operational in Mali

The two medicalized A109 helicopters Belgium deployed to Mali have been operational since the end of last week. Based at Sévaré, the helicopters will evacuate patients whose condition has been stabilized to a surgical unit.

PRIMER HELICÓPTERO A109 PARA NUEVA ZELANDA/NEW ZEALAND'S FIRST A109

El primer helicóptero A109 de entrenamiento para la Real Fuerza Aérea de Nueva Zelanda (RNZAF), ha realizado su primer vuelo en la planta de AgustaWestland en Vergiate, Italia, y empezará este mes las pruebas de vuelo. Sustituirá a los Bell Sioux en la RNZAF, y proporcionarán entrenamiento para pilotos y tripulantes de los futuros NH Industries NH90 de transporte y Kaman Aerospace SH-2G Seasprite de la Marina. El primero de un total de cinco se entregará durante 2010, y entrará en servicio en la base de Ohakea en 2011, fecha en la que se dispondrá de un simulador.

New Zealand's first A109 training helicopter should enter developmental test and evaluation in late March, having made its maiden flight from AgustaWestland's Vergiate plant in Italy in February.
To replace its aged Bell Sioux trainers, the Royal New Zealand Air Force's eventual fleet of five winch-equipped A109s will be used to instruct pilots and aircrew for its NH Industries NH90 transports and the navy's Kaman Aerospace SH-2G Seasprites. The first aircraft will be delivered to New Zealand late this year and will enter service at RNZAF Base Ohakea during 2011. A simulator for the A109 will arrive next year.
