AgustaWestland and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) announced the delivery of the first Airborne Mine Counter Measures (AMCM) equipped MCH-101 helicopter to the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force. The KHI MCH-101, is equipped with the Northrop Grumman AN/AQS-24A airborne mine hunting system and the Northrop Grumman AN/AES-1 Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS). Together these systems provide a complete surface-to-bottom mine detection capability. .
The development of the AMCM variant of the AW101/MCH-101 has been led by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, as prime contractor, with AgustaWestland providing technical support.
Following the handover ceremony at Kawasaki’s factory on 27th February, the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force aircraft was delivered to Iwakuni where it will perform evaluation trials with the 51st Experimental Squadron before entering operational service in 2016.
The first AMCM configured is the eighth of 13 AW101s that Kawasaki Heavy Industries is building under licence from AgustaWestland for the Japan Maritime Defense Force. The eight aircraft delivered to date comprise six MCH-101s and two CH-101s. The CH-101s are used to support Japan’s Antarctic research activities.

Japan delays C-2 service entry after door issue in testing
Japan is delaying the introduction into service of the Kawasaki C-2 transport aircraft to investigate why a door broke during pressurisation testing in January.
The Technical Research and Development Institute (TRDI) was investigating the cause.
The MoD had planned to deploy the first operational C-2 in early 2015. This now appears unlikely to happen.
The JASDF requires up to 60 C-2s to replace Kawasaki C-1 and Lockheed Martin C-130H transports, with 10 originally scheduled to be delivered in the next four years.
The C-2 is intended to provide much greater range than the platforms it is replacing, with a stated range of 3,023 n miles (5,598 km; 3,478 miles) when carrying its maximum payload of 30 tonnes.
JASDF officials have previously said they want to modify some C-2s for surveillance and reconnaissance operations, which are currently carried out by NAMC YS-11 airframes that are more than 40 years old. The MoD has approved the purchase of six ex-US Marine Corps KC-130Rs to replace YS-11 transports in Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force service.
Japan's shortage of airlift capabilities was also highlighted in the 3 March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Kawasaki has also offered a civilian cargo version of the C-2, called the YCX, on the international market.

The Next Vietnam Submarine Hunter : C295, P3C or PX
To enhance maritime patrol and submarine hunting in the South China Sea, Vietnam is planning to equip the modern submarine hunting aircraft.
Navy Vietnam are looking to buy a navy patrol plane new, but Vietnam is still not satisfied with the proposed P-3C Orion from the U.S.
Vietnam Ministry of Defense is considering a number of naval patrol aircraft modernization, which includes Airbus Military C-295, the Lockheed P-3 Orion Marin and the type of PX Japan.
Aircraft Kawasaki XP-1 submarine hunting first prototype first flew successfully. 3/2010, Kawasaki has delivered 4 the XP-1 for the Japanese Ministry of Defense test. XP-1 is designed to perform multiple tasks including maritime patrol, reconnaissance, hunting submarines, surface ships and combat search and rescue. XP-1 38m long, wingspan of 35.4 m, 12.1 m high, maximum takeoff weight of 79.7 tons.
Besides hunting ground plane PX, the leading candidate is known for the choice of Vietnam's P-3 Orion. Aircraft P-3 Orion submarine hunter capable of carrying 9 tons ordnance:AGM-84H / K Harpoon, AGM- 84E SLAM, missiles, AGM-65F Maverick on land, and Mk-46 torpedoes, Mk-50, Mk-54.
Airbus Military, said Vietnam was also considering buying aircraft variant C -295 of their anti-submarine patrols, but then the plan has been delayed for a long time. However, the relationship of defense cooperation between Vietnam and the European companies are also quite cozy, typical Coast Guard forces have ordered 3 patrol aircraft CASA C-212's and Airbus are considering buy 3 transport aircraft C-295 of Indonesia.

A prototype of the Air Self-Defense Force's next-generation transport aircraft performed its first test flight Tuesday in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, more than two years behind schedule due to structural integrity problems. Code-named XC2, the two-engine jet is being developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. KHI started work on the plane in 2001 as part of 340 billin yen government project. The project also covers costs to develop the Maritime Self-Defense Force's next-generation antisubmarine patrol plane, which shares many parts with the XC2. The plane is 44 meters long, or 15 meters longer than the current ASDF C-1 transport jet. The aircraft is expected to be used on ASDF missions overseas.
