Syrian government forces backed by Lebanese Hezbollah militants forged ahead with their assault on a key rebel district in the central city of Homs Sunday, activists said, as President Bashar Assad’s forces try to crush resistance in the few remaining opposition-held neighborhoods in the city known as the “capital of the revolution.”

Israel Air Force Intercepts Hezbollah UAV
The Israeli Air Force shot down a UAV launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon during the afternoon. The IAF identified the aircraft as it left the borders of Lebanon. Fighter aircraft and helicopters were launched towards the UAV to ensure that it was not an Israeli aircraft. After confirming that it was a drone, the commander of the IAF approved that the UAV be taken down by an F-16.
The current IAF decision was to shoot the UAV down above the ocean and not to wait for it to enter into Israeli territory, as occurred the last time that Hezbollah launched a UAV towards Israel. The UAV was shot down between five and six miles west of Haifa, at an altitude of 6,000 feet by way of an air-to-air missile. The IAF does not know what was the target of the UAV, or if it was armed.

Fajr-5 missile gives Palestinians rare advantage
In a straight fight between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip there is no question who has the upper hand. Israel’s armed forces are among the world’s most sophisticated. Their ability to mount a drone strike of the kind that killed the Hamas military leader Ahmad Jabari on Wednesday attests to a deadly combination of precise weaponry and accurate intelligence.
But in the latest round of the conflict the Palestinians have used a weapon which gives them a rare if short-lived advantage — a rocket which can strike at Israel’s civilian heartland. This is the Fajr-5, developed by Iran and also supplied to Hezbollah, Tehran’s Lebanese ally. It has a range of up to 75km, which means it can hit Tel Aviv and elsewhere in the heavily populated conurbation in central Israel.

Israel cree que Hezbollah posee misiles Scud/Scud threat from rebels serious

Israeli defense officials said Wednesday that they believe Hezbollah has Scud missiles that could hit all of Israel, a day after Israel's president accused Syria of supplying the Lebanese guerrillas with the weapons. The officials told that the Scuds could alter the strategic balance with Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militia that battled Israel to a stalemate during a month-long war in 2006.
President Shimon Peres, speaking in Paris, charged Tuesday that Syria is playing a double game, talking about peace while "delivering Scuds to Hezbollah"
Syrian Embassy dismissed the allegations and accused Israel of trying to divert attention from questions about Israel's nuclear program.
