Experts and technical staff at Shahid Nasser Habibi air base in Northeastern Iran managed to overhaul a French-made Mirage and an F-5 fighter jet.
The overhauling operations of the French-made Mirage fighter jet took 25,000 man/hours of work, while the two-seat American-made F-5 fighter jet took 12,500 man/hours of work.
The two aircraft joined the Iranian Air Force fleet after being run through operational tests.
The most recent rejoining of overhauled fighter jets by Iranian experts was on July 25, in which IRGC military-technical experts overhauled and upgraded 10 Sukhoi SU-22 fighter jets.
Also on July 19, Iran reported the overhauling of an American-made F-14 tomcat at Shahid Babaei Airbase in Isfahan Province. The operation had taken 35,000 man/hours of work.
According to commander of Shahid Babaei Airbase, Mohammad Jafar Tak, the efforts put into the overhauling process of the grounded aircraft shows that the enemy’s attempts at imposing sanctions in a bid to undermine the country’s defense capabilities have been futile.

Iran and Russia to Co-Produce Su-30 Fighter Jet
During a recent television interview, Iran’s Defense Minister, General Hossein Dehqhan, announced that Iran will sign a contract with Russia for the co-production of an undisclosed number of Russian-made Sukhoi Su-30 multirole fighter aircraft, Fars News Agency reports.
Should the deal go through, Iran will be the second country in the world after India to produce a variation of the Su-30 fighter jet locally. However, as of now, it still remains unclear in what capacity Tehran will be involved in the aircraft production process.
According to a source within Iran’s Defense Ministry interviewed by Sputnik News, a contract could be signed as early as February 16, when the Iranian defense minister will arrive in Moscow to discuss the deliveries of S-300 air defense systems and the Sukhoi Su-30 aircraft.

Iraq's Latest Su-25s Come From Iran
The latest delivery of Russian-made Su-25 Frogfoot aircraft to the Iraqi Air Force originated from Iran, according to the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS). The close-air support and ground attack aircraft are using the same serial numbers used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which operate the aircraft.
In a video posted by the Iraqi Ministry of Defence, the aircraft appeared with wing-mounted fuel tanks; the Russian-supplied aircraft were disassembled and flown into Iraq.
Iranian Su-25s have been assigned a narrow range of six-digit serial numbers, all with the prefix 15-245x, with the last two digits repeated on the aircraft nose. While the full serial numbers are not present, the three individual examples identified on the video each featured two-digit numbers on their nose. Two are coded 51 and 56, while 58 is visible on the sole Su-25UB, correlating with identified Iranian numbering.
The camouflage scheme visible on the three aircraft is also identical to that currently applied to Iranian Su-25s, a scheme not adopted by any other operators.
These aircraft are externally in much better condition relative to that of the recently delivered Russian Su-25s thought to be drawn from storage.
Although these aircraft were likely delivered to Iraq by Iranian pilots, it is unclear who will now be responsible for crewing and maintaining them.
It seems increasingly unlikely that Iraq retains the capacity to operate this type of aircraft in any significant number without some level of external support.

Iran Unveils 1st Home-Made Simulator for Mirage Fighters
Iran unveiled and launched its first home-made Mirage fighter jet simulator. The Mirage simulator system has been designed and built by Iranian engineers and all its parts have been produced domestically.
Military officials said the machine enjoys the capability to simulate flights in different weather conditions.
In January, Iran’s Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base unveiled simulators for anti-aircraft Hawk and Skyguard missile systems.
Iran has recently renewed and upgraded the weapons and defense systems of its air defense units.
Senior Iranian military officials announced in September 2010 that Iran gained self-sufficiency in manufacturing simulators, adding that the country possessed more than 800 home-made simulators then.
In August 2010, the Iranian Army started using two home-made Cobra Chopper simulators in an airborne base.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in manufacturing essential military hardware and defense systems.

Iran manages C-130 Overhauls
Iranian experts repaired and overhauled a C-130 military plane used for transporting equipment and military forces.
The overhauling operations of the plane took 23,000 man/hours of work.
The C-130 plane joined the Iranian Air Force fleet after making its maiden flight.
The Iranian Air Force announced in August that the Iranian experts managed to overhaul two mirage F-1 fighter jets.
The overhauling operations of the two fighter jets took 45,000 man/hours of work. The two aircraft joined the Iranian Air Force fleet after making their maiden flights.
Iran also announced in June that its experts are overhauling different types of aircraft, including Mig-29 and F-5 fighter jet.
In August 2012, a Mig-29 fighter jet of the Iranian Army conducted its test flight successfully after being overhauled by local experts.
The aircraft which was down for 12 years could experience its first flight after it was overhauled, which took 21,000 man/hour of work.
The Iranian experts spent 24 months to overhaul the strategic fighter jet and mounted three types of modern electronic systems onto the aircraft in a bid to increase its technical and backup capabilities.

New strategic 'FOTROS' drone unveiled in Iran
Iran has unveiled its biggest domestically developed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which can be used for reconnaissance and combat operations.
The remote-controlled aircraft, dubbed Fotros, was put on display at the headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces Aviation Industries Organization in Tehran.
The strategic UAV has an operational radius of up to 2,000 kilometers, an operational altitude of 25,000 feet and flight endurance of up to 30 hours.
The Fotros drone can be used for reconnaissance and surveillance, and has the potential to carry out combat operations once armed with air-to-surface missiles and other types of rockets.
On September 28, the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces unveiled an indigenously designed and built combat drone, dubbed Yasir, that can fly at an altitude of 15000 feet, has flight endurance of eight hours and an effective operational radius of 200 kilometers.
Iran unveiled its first domestically manufactured long-range combat drone, the Karrar (Striker), on August 23, 2010. It reportedly has an operational radius of 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) and can carry two 115-kilogram bombs or precision-guided munitions weighing 227 kilograms.
The first Iranian medium-altitude long-endurance UAV, the Shahed-129 (Witness-129), was unveiled in September 2012, which is capable of carrying out combat and reconnaissance missions for 24 hours.

Iranian F-4 tried to intercept MQ-1 escorted by 2 American fighters
An Iranian military jet tried to intercept an unarmed American MQ-1 remotely piloted aircraft over international waters March 12 but it was discouraged from accomplishing that mission, Pentagon officials said today.
The MQ-1 aircraft was conducting a routine classified surveillance flight over international waters in the Arabian Gulf.
Iran sent an F-4 Phantom 2 jet to intercept the unmanned aircraft. “The closest point of approach between these aircraft was approximately 16 miles,” Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said in a written statement.
Two U.S. military aircraft were escorting the Predator, and the Iranian plane broke off pursuit after a verbal warning.
“All U.S. aircraft remained over international waters at all times,” Little said.
In November, Iranian aircraft fired on an American remotely piloted aircraft operating over the Arabian Sea. The Iranian aircraft fired two missiles at the drone and missed. After that incident, the U.S. government informed the Iranian government that its behavior was unacceptable. Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at the time that the U.S. military will continue to fly these missions and will protect its aircraft.

Iran unveils new indigenous stealth fighter “Qaher 313″. Detailed analysis.
On Feb. 1, 2013, Iran unveiled its indigenous fighter jet named “Qaher 313″.
Indeed, based on the first photographs released by the FARS News Agency, the new stealthy jet has a really peculiar design. It features hard edges and those distinctive edges and angle of the U.S. F-22 and the twin tail shape much similar to that of the F-35 Lightning II.
The Q-313 has large, seemingly fixed canards, and little wings whose external section is canted downward.
The canopy material is at least odd (based on its transparency, it looks like plexiglass or something like that).
The cockpit seems to be basic (a bit too much for a modern plane – note the lack of wirings behind the front panel).
It looks like this pilot is in a miniature plane.
Summing up: the shape is interesting with some innovative features but the Q-313 displayed on Feb. 1, 2013, seems to be nothing more than a large mock up model (not properly sized to accomodate a real pilot….).
