MEXICO REQUESTS TO BUY 8 MH-60R

The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Mexico of MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopters for an estimated cost of $1.20 billion. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on April 18, 2018.
The Government of Mexico has requested to buy eight (8) MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopters, equipped with: twenty (20) T-700 GE 401 C engines (16 installed and 4 spares); sixteen (16) APS-153(V) Multi-Mode radars (8 installed, 8 spares); ten (10) Airborne Low Frequency Systems (ALFS) (8 installed and 2 spares); fourteen (14) AN/APX-123 Identification Friend or Foe transponders (8 installed and 6 spares); twelve (12) AN/AAS-44C Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems Forward Looking Infrared Systems (8 installed, 4 spares); twenty (20) Embedded Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation Systems (EGI) with Selective Availability/Anti-Spoofing Module (16 installed and 4 spares); thirty (30) AN/AVS-9 Night Vision Devices; one thousand (1,000) AN/SSQ-36/53/62 Sonobuoys; ten (10) AGM-114 Hellfire missiles; five (5) AGM-114 M36-E9 Captive Air Training missiles; four (4) AGM-114Q Hellfire training missiles; thirty eight (38) Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) II rockets; thirty (30) Mk -54 Lightweight Hybrid Torpedoes (LHTs); twelve (12) M-240D machine guns; twelve (12) GAU-21 Machine Guns.

Airbus C295W winglet tour touches down in Bolivia

The Airbus C295W winglet roadshow stopped off in the city of El Alto in Bolivia this week to demonstrate the new type’s performance in hot and high conditions.
The aircraft registered ANX-1255 of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) is on a promotional tour of Latin America to demonstrate how the winglets improve the aircraft’s performance and provide 4% fuel savings over standard wingtips.

First winglet-equipped C295W heads for Mexico

Airbus has delivered the first production example of its winglet-equipped C295 medium transport, which will benefit from extended-range performance and also give operators a 4% increase in fuel efficiency.
Flown from Airbus ’s Seville final assembly site in Spain, the Mexican navy C295W carries the registration ANX-1524. It is the first of two aircraft included in a follow-on order for the service announced by the manufacturer last October. The pair will join four C295 transports.
Winglets will be standard for all new C295s delivered from now on”.

Mexican Navy to get five more UH-60M Black Hawk

Sikorsky Aircraft has been awarded a contract modification for five more uniquely configured UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the Mexican Navy (Armada de México - AdM).
Sikorsky is expected to complete manufacturing the UH-60Ms by 30 May 2016.
In September the Pentagon announced a contract for eight of the utility helicopters for the AdM and another deal for 18 'green' UH-60Ms for the Mexican Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Mexicana - FAM).
As the most modern variant of the Black Hawk, the UH-60M incorporates more powerful and reliable General Electric T700-GE-701D engines, enhanced rotor blades and a fully digital 'glass' cockpit.
The Mexican Federal Police (Policía Federal - PF) also operate the UH-60M. Three UH-60Ms were delivered to the AdM in August 2011, with the PF also receiving three at the same time.
The navy UH-60Ms differ slightly from those to be operated by the air force in that they are equipped with a winch and auxiliary fuel tanks. Both the AdM and PF platforms are also fitted with a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensor, which is not listed as being requested for the FAM's UH-60Ms.

Mexican navy orders two more Airbus Military C295 transports

The Mexican navy has ordered two more Airbus Military C295s to add to its four-strong fleet of the medium transports.
Announced on 29 October, the new aircraft will add to the navy’s fleet of Airbus Military transport aircraft, which includes six CN235s and two C212s in addition to the C295s.
The navy will operate the new aircraft for military, civil and humanitarian missions.
The Mexican air force operates six C295s, with four more on order, all of which are expected to be delivered by mid-2014.
Two CN235s are also operated by the federal police in Mexico, making the nation the largest Airbus Defence and Space customer in Latin America.
In May, Mexico carried out an evaluation of the company’s A400M tactical transport in country. A “Grizzly” was flown to Mexico City International airport and carried out a series of demonstrations.

Marina de México recibe tres helicópteros rusos Mi-17-V5

La Secretaría de Marina de México (Semar) recibió tres helicópteros rusos Mi-17-V5 por un monto de inversión aún no determinado.

Según el sitio de noticias RIA Novosti, los helicópteros fueron entregados en la base naval mexicana, ubicada en la ciudad costera de Veracruz, con aguas en el Golfo de México.

El contrato de arrendamiento financiero (leasing) de las aeronaves rusas fue suscrito el 22 de diciembre de 2011. No se dispone de información sobre el monto total del contrato que Rosoboronexport firmó por la parte rusa, de acuerdo con la misma publicación. Aunque en otros contratos públicos de los Mi-17-V5, se habla de precios entre 12,4 millones y 17,5 millones por unidad.
