Royal Malaysian Navy Plans To Acquire Anti-submarine Helicopters

The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has proposed for the government to acquire anti-submarine helicopters to increase the force's capabilities.
Navy chief Admiral says "At least six anti-submarine aircraft are needed to form a squadron.
The Kota Kinabalu RMN Base in Teluk Sepanggar, Sabah will house the squadron where two of the country's submarines are also stationed.
The Kota Kinabalu RMN Base currently has two French Scorpene submarines, the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman and KD Tun Razak.

La Armada española sólo cuenta con dos submarinos operativos

La crisis ha reducido a la mitad la flota de submarinos de la Armada, ya que después de que el 'Siroco' fuera dado de baja el pasado junio los presupuestos para el próximo año no contemplan la gran revisión a la que se tendría que someter el 'Tramontana' para continuar operativo.

De esta manera, España permanecerá sólo con dos submarinos disponibles a la espera de que se incorpore la nueva flota que está siendo construida por Navantia, un programa de más de 2.000 millones de euros.

La Armada espera que el primero de los nuevos submarinos, que ya está en avanzado estado de construcción en los astilleros de Navantia en Cartagena, esté operativo en 2016.

Navantia y DCNS de Francia finalizan su colaboración en la construcción de submarinos/ DCNS, Navantia End Scorpene Cooperation

La francesa DCNS y la española Navantia han acordado finalizar su acuerdo de fabricació conjunta de submarinos convencionales Scorpene.
DCNS continuará desarrollando en solitario los Scorpene, y Navantia hará lo mismo con el S80.

DCNS and Navantia of Spain have agreed to drop cooperation on the Scorpene conventional diesel-electric attack submarine and go their own ways in undersea warfare, the French naval company company said in a terse statement Nov. 12.
"DCNS and Navantia have put an end to their disagreement concerning their submarine collaboration," DCNS said in a statement. "As a result, the arbitration procedure between them will be terminated."
DCNS will take over sole rights to build and sell the Scorpene, while Navantia will work on its S80 submarine.

Llega a Malaysia segundo Scorpene/ KD Tun Razak, the Royal Malaysian Navy second of two Scorpene submarines, entered the national waters

El submarino se dirige a la base naval de Lumut para ceremonia oficial de bienvenida.
Tiene una tripulación de 31 personas y alcanza los 300 metros de profundidad. El KD Tun Razak procede de España, donde realizó las pruebas de mar. El primer Scorpene llegó a Malaysia el pasado tres de septiembre.
Malaysia adquirió los dos Scorpene en 2002 y fueron construídos entre la DCNS de Francia y Navantia de España.

The submarine, is heading for the Lumut naval base for an official homecoming ceremony, Friday, July 2nd.
Manned by a crew of 31, KD Tun Razak, which was named after second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, can reach diving depths of up to 300 metres.
KD Tun Razak left for home from Spain after successful sea trials. The country's first submarine, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, arrived at Port Klang on Sept 3 last year.
Malaysia acquired both Scorpene submarines in 2002 and they were built jointly by France's Direction des Constructions Navales Services and Spain's Navantia.
