Ecuador Expands Military Fleet with Two Airbus C295 Transport Aircraft

Ecuador's president, announced via his social media platforms that he has successfully secured a deal with Airbus Defence & Space for the acquisition of two C295 aircraft.

"We have finalized the purchase of two C295 aircraft from Airbus. The Minister of Defense, Luis Lara, has signed a contract that will strengthen the @EjercitoECU and @armada_ecuador with two aircraft that will be used for security and to assist Ecuadorians in times of emergency.", posted on "X"

The Ecuadorian Minister of Defense, Luis Lara, officially stamped the agreement for the procurement of two C295 military transport planes. One of these aircraft is earmarked for the Ecuadorian Army, while the other will serve the Ecuadorian Navy.

The Ecuadorian Armed Forces are already familiar with this aircraft family, given that the Air Force employs three C295s for transport and cargo tasks. The Army utilizes two CN235s, while the Navy operates an additional pair of CN235s specially configured for maritime patrol operations (MPA).

Ecuador Increases C295 Fleet by 3 Aircraft

Ecuador has added three C295 transports to its fleet of Airbus Defence and Space military aircraft. The European aerospace company announced June 9 that it had already delivered the first aircraft from its factory.
The order has been on Airbus’ books for sometime but the company has only just been cleared to reveal the deal following the handover of the first aircraft June 6.
Delivery of a second machine to the Ecuadorian Air Force is expected soon with the final aircraft following by the end of the year.
The deal includes a full service support program.
The Army and naval forces of the Latin American nation already operate two Airbus C212s and four CN235s.
Aside from the Ecuador order Airbus has also secured orders this year for a further 17 C295s from undisclosed customers.
These included eight from North Africa, two Middle East customers and a first intelligence and surveillance variant delivery in Latin America.
The executive said he expected to add to the order tally “very soon” with an announcement of a Middle East special operations customer.
Airbus is also developing a gun-ship version of the C259 for an unnamed Middle East customer.
The company already has Jordan as a customer for a gun-ship version of the smaller CN235 aircraft.

Two air forces eyeing Block 60 Kfirs, says IAI

Israel Aerospace Industries is in "very advanced negotiations" with at least two air forces that want to purchase the company's upgraded Kfir fighter in its Block 60 configuration.
The Kfir Block 60 is the latest upgrade for the Israeli-made fighter, which has been flying now for 40 years. The variant is offered with a General Electric-designed J79 engine with zero hours after a total overhaul, and will need another one after 1,600 flight hours.
Elta Systems will supply its EL/M-2032 active electronically scanned array radar, with open architecture avionics to allow a customer to install other systems.
According to Elta, the new sensor will provide an all-aspect, look-down/shoot-down performance in air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, with the capability to simultaneously track up to 64 targets.
All of the ex-Israeli air force Kfirs that have been stored at one of the service's desert bases for several years are to be transferred to an IAI upgrade facility. "This line will be busy in the coming years," the IAI source says.
Current users of previously-upgraded Kfirs include Colombia and Ecuador.

Ecuador adquiere 12 Mirage "Cheetah" de Sudáfrica/ Ecuador signs for 12 ex-South African Cheetahs

Ecuador va a adquirir 12 Mirage "Cheetah C", retirados de la Fuerza Aérea de Sudáfrica.
Las negociaciones comenzaron en 2009, y oficiales de Ecuadro viajaron en Abril a Sudáfrica para inspeccionar las máquinas.
Ecuador se convertirá en el único operador de este modelo. Su Fuerza Aérea dispone actualmente de tres Mirage 50EV y 11 Mirage F1JA, junto a ocho IAI Kfir.

Ecuador is to acquire 12 ex-South African Air Force Cheetah C fighters.
Formal negotiations with Ecuador commenced in 2009, and air force officials visited South Africa last April to inspect the stored aircraft and witness evaluation flights.
Ecuador will be the only operator of the Cheetah. Its air force currently flies three Mirage 50EV and 11 Mirage F1JA fighters, along with eight Israel Aerospace Industries Kfirs.

Negotiations are under way between the Chinese and Ecuadorian governments for the purchase of two Xian MA60H-500 transports for the latter's air force.
Also to include options for a further two aircraft, the potential deal has been valued at nearly $38 million.
If introduced, the MA60s would be expected to replace the Ecuadorian air force's last three British Aerospace HS748s, which were previously acquired from the Brazilian air force.

ECUADOR RETIRA STRIKEMASTER/ECUADOR WITHDREW STRIKEMASTER

Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) retired last Feb. 10 MK-89 Strikemaster fleet. These will be replaced be Super Tucanos. Last Jan 24, arrived to BA Manta, two first Super Tucanos, of 24 bought to Brazil. It wass announced that 6 Mirage 50 will be received from Venezuelan Air Force. Retird Strikemaster were 37 years old.

La Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana (FAE) dio de baja el 11/02/2010baja su flota de aeronaves MK-89 Strikemaster, fabricados por la compañía inglesa British Aerospace, para reemplazarlos por los nuevos "Super Tucano" que el gobierno de Ecuador compró a la empresa brasileña EMBRAER.
El comandante general de la FAE, dijo durante una ceremonia especial efectuada en la base aérea de Manta, en el oeste del país, que el gobierno mostró su apoyo a la institución militar con la repotenciación de su flota aérea. El pasado 24 de enero, llegaron a Manta los primeros dos aviones Super Tucano, de una flotilla de 24, comprados a Brasil.
En la misma ceremonia, que conmemoró los 15 años del derribo de los cazas Sukhoi peruanos durante el conflicto bélico del Cenepa, se anunció también la incorporación a la Fuerza Aérea ecuatoriana de los seis aviones Mirage 50 donados por el gobierno de Venezuela y que empezarán a operar a partir de este miércoles.
Los Strikemaster jubilados acumularon más de 46 mil horas de vuelo y funcionaron durante 37 años.

ECUADOR RECIBE LOS 2 PRIMEROS SUPER TUCANO/FIRST TWO SUPER TUCANOES IN ECUADOR

Los primeros 2 Super Tucano de fabricación brasileña de un total de 24 pedidos, han llegado a Ecuador. Los aparatos serán empleados en misiones de control de fronteras.
Una parte de las aeronaves se utlizará para operaciones militares, y la otra para entrenamiento. Sustituirán a los anticuados A-37 y a los Strikemaster MK-89 de fabricación británica.

Ecuador has received two first Super Tucanoes (There are 24 on order). This two Aircraft will be employed for Border Control.
Half of total will be for trainign, and halfo for combat operations. They will replace aged A-37 and Strikemaster MK-89.

ECUADOR RECIBIRA SUPER TUCANO EN ENERO DE 2010/ECUADOR WILL RECEIVE SUPERTUCANO ON JANUARY 2010

Según el comandante de la Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana (FAE), los 24 Super Tucano comprados a EMBRAER comenzarán a llegar antes de final de mes. Oficiales ecuatorianos ya han volado en ellos. Los Super Tucano reemplazarán a los Cessna A37 y Strikemaster que utiliza la FAE, y que han volado durante mas de 40 años.
Embraer proveerá los repuestos requeridos ara los aviones, pero existe la probabilidad de que parte de los componentes puedan fabricarse en Ecuador.

According Ecuadorian Air Force Commander, The 24 Super Tucanos acquired from EMBRAER will start to arrive to Ecuador before end of January. Ecuadorian Pilots, have been flying Super Tucanos in Brazil. Super Tucanos will replace Cessna A37 and Strikemaster that have been flying over 40 years.
Embraer will supply spares, but it is likely to produce some of them in Ecuador, something that never happened before.
