US approves A-29 Super Tucano sale to Lebanon
Sierra Nevada Corporation could receive an order from Lebanon for six of its American-built A-29 Super Tucanos following the US government’s approval of a potential foreign military sale.
The company is in a partnership with Brazil’s Embraer to deliver 20 of the light-attack turboprops to the Pentagon for transfer to the Afghan Air Force. The first batch of aircraft built in Jacksonville, Florida, arrived at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia last September for the start of training.
Lebanon could buy up to six Super Tucanos.
The potential sale comes as the US government approves another potential deal with Lebanon for an undisclosed number of Lockheed Martin AGM-114 Hellfire II missiles.

Lebanon to get Super Tucanos in 2018
The Lebanese Armed Forces will receive six Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano counter-insurgency aircraft in 2018.
The LAF's acquisition of the Super Tucanos, designed for light attack and aerial surveillance, is deemed appropriate given Lebanon's small size, mountainous terrain, and the fact that insurgents rather than conventional armies represent the main current threat there.
The United States has provided the LAF with military assistance over the past eight years. This includes two Cessna 208B Caravan aircraft, both of which have been modified into intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms.

USA to deliver Cessna armed aircraft and Hellfire missiles to Lebanon
American Ambassador to Lebanon said on Friday that his country is to provide Lebanon with armed Cessna aircraft, in addition to Hellfire missiles.
The aircraft would be bought with Saudi funds recently pledged to the Lebanese army.
Another Cessna previously provided by the US to the Lebanese army would also be armed.
The pledges and arms deliveries come as several allies of Lebanon step up efforts to bolster its armed forces as the threat from ISIS in the region grows.
Lebanon was among ten Arab states that pledged on Thursday to rally behind Washington against ISIS, the extremist group that has controlled large swaths of Iraq and Syria.

EMPRESA FRANCESA MODERNIZARA FUERZA AÉREA LIBANESA/FRENCH COMPANY TO REVAMP LEBANESE AIR FORCE

French Company to Revamp Lebanon's Gazelle Helicopters, Equip Pumas
Lebanon has signed an agreement with the French company Euro Tech --specialized in revamping and equipping planes -- to revamp 13 Gazelle-type helicopters owned by Lebanon and equip the Puma helicopters granted by the UAE to Lebanon, according to the Central News Agency.
The agreement implies revamping the helicopters and training Lebanese pilots on flying the French-manufactured Puma helicopters. The Puma helicopters are expected to start arriving within the first half of 2010 in two batches, the first includes four helicopters and the second includes six. Earlier media reports said that France was worried that providing the Lebanese army with weapons, including missiles for the Gazelle helicopters, could end up in Hizbullah hands. France's stance was conveyed during a visit by Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Paris. It came in response to Hariri's request to provide Lebanon with Gazelle missiles since the Lebanese Air Force used up all the rockets against Fatah al-Islam militants during the battle of Nahr el-Bared in 2007. The ten Puma helicopters that were part of UAE grant to Lebanon were also to be used for light transport and liaison roles and not for combat.
