IRAN ESTÁ LEJOS DE POSEER MISILES INTERCONTINENTALES BALÍSTICOS/IRAN IS FAR TO DEVELOP LONG RANGE MISSILES

Iran is making robust strides in developing ballistic missiles, with the apparent aim of being able to deliver nuclear warheads well beyond its borders. Iran’s modifications of the North Korean No-dong missile, resulting in the longer range Ghadr-1, and its recent success in testing locally produced space-launch vehicles and two-stage solid-propellant missiles have heightened concerns. Yet the worst-case scenario projected at the end of the twentieth century about Iran being able to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking the United States within five years has not materialised.

V-22 OSPREY POSIBLE FUTURO HELICÓPTERO PRESIDENCIAL/"MARINE ONE" COULD BE V-22 OSPREY

______________________________________________
The official helicopter of the US President "Marine One" when he is aboard, may in future be a V-22 "Osprey". Osprey will be considered as the new presidential vertical-takeoff craft. The choppers assigned to presidential VIP transport by the US Marines at present are aged Sea Kings, and the Marines have been trying to replace them for years.
It had been decided to use a variant of the EH101 made in Britain and Italy, modified for presidential requirements. However, the relatively small European aircraft struggled to carry all the required communications kit, described as "an Oval Office in the sky" - not to mention the necessary hardening against electromagnetic pulses from nuclear weapons etc.
In the end it was calculated that each copter would cost more than one of the Air Force One 747.
The programme was duly axed shortly after Obama took office, and the Marines now plan to hold a new competition to find a new replacement for the present, ageing VH-3D Sea Kings. Contenders would naturally be put forward by the major US defence contractors - and it has now been confirmed that Boeing, makers of the Marines' infamous V-22 Osprey tiltrotor, will submit it for consideration.
Last time round the Osprey wasn't ready, for all that.
One major reason that the Merlin was selected the first time around was that it's one of the bigger helicopters which can set down on the White House lawn without causing an unacceptable amount of destruction. This requirement might well have been thought to rule the Osprey out of the running, but if Colonel Masiello is to be believed that's not the case - at least on the matter of wing and rotor span.
That said, it has been officially acknowledged that the Osprey's downward-pointing jet exhausts are so hot and violent as to buckle the steel flight-decks of warships when setting down, so they would presumably cause a major headache for the White House gardeners if the V-22 wins the new competition.
Even so, a few rolls of new turf after every flight (or perhaps a patch of flame-proof astroturf) would be a relatively small expense in the general context of rotary-wing flying, let alone that of the V-22: and the tiltrotor's greater speed and height performance might well be considered an advantage when carrying a passenger whose time and safety are thought so important.
There can't be much doubt that the US Marines, who have fought with unbelievable tenacity to preserve the V-22 through its many troubles, would be glad indeed to use it in the Marine One role.

American infantry men will march through the gate toward Moscow’s great fortress, the Kremlin.
Never before in history have active-duty American troops been invited to march in the Victory Day parade. The occasion is the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, a date that carries an almost sacred meaning in Russia. Russian leaders have taken pains to explain that the Americans — along with contingents from Britain, France and Poland — were invited as representatives of the “anti-Hitler coalition.”
Not for nothing are they explaining. While more than half of Russians greeted the invitation with approval or enthusiasm, according to an April poll by the independent Levada Center, the sentiment was not universal. In a country that still regards NATO as its primary security threat, 20 percent of respondents said they disapproved and 8 percent were dead set against it.

Bangladesh still needs patrol vessels, however, and has bought the 2 ships following 6 months of negotiations.
The 1,430 ton Castle Class OPVs are combat ships, but they’re very lightly armed, with just a 30mm cannon and 4 GPMG class 7.62mm machine guns. There had been reports of negotiations for a fit-out of anti-ship missiles, but that will not be included. The ships remain versatile, however, with features that can include detergent spraying equipment to disperse oil slicks, laying mines in wartime, taking 50-120 troops on board if necessary, and a flight deck that can land helicopters up to H-3 Sea King size.

The Italian air force is expected to later this year complete flight trials of an Alenia Aeronautica C-27J tactical transport modified to counter the threat posed by improvised explosive devices.

Required to counter the asymmetric threats found in demanding operational environments such as Afghanistan, the air force launched a programme to equip the C-27J with a counter-IED (CIED) payload. This has been developed by the service's own electronic warfare operational support unit, the ReSTOGE, which is headquartered at Pratica di Mare air base near Rome.
