Col. Mitchell A. Bauman, Fleet Readiness Center East Commanding Officer, stands with the first Italian Navy AV-8 to undergo planned maintenance and modification work at the facility. FRC East recently completed the extensive aircraft upgrades in 201 days—19 days earlier than projected and more than $275,000 under estimated costs. RADM Paolo Treu, Commander of Italian Naval Aviation, expressed his thanks to FRC East, writing, “Please convey my deepest admiration and appreciation to your ‘artisans’…they did a fantastic job.” The next Italian Harrier to be modified should arrive at FRC East by early January 2013.
