Singapore defense officials visiting an Air Force base in Arizona have gotten a look at a new American fighter that the Asian nation may purchase.
Luke Air Force Base officials say an F-35B from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma flew to the pilot-training base just west of Phoenix on Tuesday.
The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing version of the F-35 developed for the Marine Corps. The Air Force uses the standard F-35A.
The single-engine fighter did several approaches to the runway, maneuvered into a hover and then landed.
Singapore air force officials are at Luke for a training exercise being conducted at Luke and at the Barry M. Goldwater Range in southwestern Arizona.
