Una de los mayores procesos de modernización que sufrirán los E-3 Sentry AWACS de la USAF, de alerta aérea temprana, ha comenzado con fecha 18 de noviembre de 2010. El primer avión, que será modernizado al standard block 40/45, ya ha comenzado el proceso en las instalaciones de la base de Tinker, en Oklahoma.

The next step in the largest block upgrade in the history of the E-3 Sentry, or Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft occurred Nov. 18 at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., when the first aircraft receiving the block 40/45 modification was inducted by the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center.
